My Retreat with the Dominican Sisters in Nashville, TN

This post is going to be short and sweet because I think the pictures I captured during the retreat tells the story better. But all in all, my little quiet get away, to the St. Cecilia Motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters, was a beautiful time. I had a wonderful opportunity to have quiet time with God, hear the great talks given by Father John Baptist (who just became a newly ordained priest this past summer) and was able to experience a little taste of what it was like in the day of a religious sister.

We had a lot of time for prayer and quiet time, which is what I needed. I woke up at 6am to the convents bells, telling all the sisters it was time to wake up. We met to pray in their beautiful chapel, morning, noon and evening. The sisters would chant or sing prayers which was so peaceful to listen too. We would eat all meals together in community. The sisters were so welcoming and were so happy to serve us in any way they could. They always had a smile on their faces and seemed so joy filled. It was like I walked into a different world... It was pretty neat. Just like any of the vocations, religious life is a truly beautiful one too. Although, it is a beautiful vocation, it was not for me but wanted some quiet time away during that time. Some assume that religious sisters or priests are the holiest out of all the vocations, but you can become just as holy being a mother or a husband or father... No certain vocation limits your capacity to grow in love for God or holiness...

The saints do not just come from priests or religious. There have been mothers, wives, husbands and fathers who have become great saints as well!
