A Sunset Points To GOD (In Ways You Might Not think...)

There are a lot of beautiful things in this world: Hearing the waves from the ocean crash on a sandy shore, sitting on the edge of a mountain looking out to the horizon, witnessing your child being born, looking up and seeing the black sky covered with glistening stars, a sunset with all its illuminating colors of wonder, the first summer rainfall and the smell it brings.
I mean, we could go on and on, right? These things are beautiful to us.
But why? Lets talk about a Sunset. Why is a sunset so darn beautiful to us? Do you ever think about that? Lets go beyond the pretty colors of nature's artwork and the sense of peace it brings.
I mean, after all, it is just the way the sun reflects off our earth's atmosphere and causes those different shades of pinks, purples, and oranges....And after all, it is just the sun becoming hidden by the rotating of the earth which leads into the day's darkness. It's simply just all science. It's just a cause and effect. Thats all... And yet, we see it as so beautiful. But WHY?
Now we are getting into philosophy.
I wish it was easy to explain...and I'll try. Just stay with me! I mean, lets be honest. Everything people see as beautiful is, down at its very core and form, because of science, right? And we can all agree that science has order. Even the way our bodies are made up of cells, and each cell is ordered in such a fashion that it allows us to function or allows for our very existence. This order of nature's makeup is good. It's what we call "natural." Anything opposite of order would be chaos. Do you ever find it interesting that our world functions so well? ...down to a single atom and all the intricate details we can't fully explain. It's all what allows us to breathe, to see the sunset, allows plants to grow by just taking in sunlight from its leaves or water from its roots. This order is what gives way to scientific laws, the way the earth revolves around the sun, the way nature adapts itself to survive but does it in such a fascinating way, the way the rain falls from clouds of moisture and waters the ground, the way there is evolution or adaptation, the way a human being grows in their mothers womb JUST FROM ONE. SINGLE. CELL. IT'S AMAZING. ALL OF IT. It's very interesting to me that some believe that all those orderly details and intricate designs of nature or life itself, was formed from a spontaneous bang...THE BIG BANG to be exact. No. This world was not created by chance from some "bang" without clear purpose. A bang sounds like chaos...and have you noticed we have order, not chaos. A creation is created by a Creator. Order does not come from nothing. It doesn't know how. Something has to put it into order or everything would have a faulty chaotic make up and would fail to stay in existence.
However you believe the earth was formed, a higher being (GOD) had to create and orchestrate this world. And with that He created the sciences, natural law, and natural order. Just to put it in some perspective, God has to be 1000x smarter than the geniuses we have on earth. In fact, there is really no comparison... Side note: Did you ever wonder what was here before God created anything? Some say there was just nothing. But the thing is we don't even know how to imagine nothing, because we were created in a world of matter and time. When there was nothing, there was no time. There was no blackness...there. was. nothing. Think about that. If there is a God (And I believe there is) I also believe there is a heaven. When it comes down to it, we were created to be with God in heaven. Heaven is even more beautiful than here. It is a place we could never even imagine or think up ourselves. The only way I sometimes imagine it is if I think of the most beautiful place I've ever seen on earth combined with the happiest time of my life, and multiply that by 1,000. Even that is NOT enough...crazy.
We were created for heaven, to be with our creator. We were created to be with the God of love. We were created to be with the ultimate beauty. A sunset is simply a very small reflection of that ultimate beauty. It is a reflection of the beauty of God and our souls are drawn to it. The sunset is a creation reflecting its Creator. The fascinating concept is, is that we are being drawn to Him through His created beauty here on earth and we may not even know it! It's pretty neat to think about. Do you ever look at that sunset when you are alone and just feel this weird feeling resonating deep inside your heart? For me, it's like this feeling that wells up inside me. A feeling that there is something more..something bigger out there. It's a feeling that I can't fully explain well in words but I know it's something that needs to be quenched or satisfied...but nothing ever seems to satisfy it! All I know in that moment is that a sunset or anything truly good or beautiful can stir up this feeling... Why? God created that sunset. HE created the beautiful order of science that allowed it to form. He infused it in our souls to not only see it as beautiful to the human eye but to be drawn to it by our very soul. He is the ultimate satisfaction. He is the ultimate Good. He is the ultimate beauty. He is the ultimate love. Do you ever wonder why we don't see evil things as beautiful? Remember that God is ALL GOOD so it makes sense that we are only drawn to good and beautiful things. As I said before, we were made to be WITH God in heaven. Our souls will never fully be satisfied until we are with Him and surrounded by Him and His ultimate beauty and love in Heaven. So in the meantime, when we see HIS creation, or something good and beautiful, like a sunset, a baby being born, experiencing crying laughter with family or friends...our hearts know we are seeing and even feeling something much deeper. We are seeing and sensing what our souls were always created for: GOD...and our hearts will continue to be restless until we rest in Him.
(I am not a philospher or scientiste by any means. Just sharing my heart.)
